About

Fence-Crete is a privately owned Company initially established in 1974 to supply and erect fencing and to supply and lay concrete.

When granulated bark was accepted as an alternative and practical method for landscaping gardens Fence-Crete became involved with the production of garden bark. Bark was soon recognized as an ideal growing media as a result of many years of work at the Levin Horticultural Research Center.

Fence-Crete began manufacturing Potting Mix using bark with the addition of lime, trace elements and various fertilizers to give the product sufficient extended life for plant production.

The base product has led to the development of a variety of mixes for many plant species. Modern research and horticultural technology has resulted in the use of additives which promote water retention and dispersal, air porosity and eradicate diseases and pests common to horticulture.

Many of the nurseries and growers, now established customers of Fence-Crete, have created their individual formulae producing a growing media that they know is successful. Climatic conditions may necessitate formula changes at times and Fence-Crete accommodate this facility.

Using aged finely graded bark blended with sheep, chicken, horse manure and straw Fence-Crete are producing an organic compost which is an outstanding garden additive, clay breaker or soil conditioner.

All the garden products produced by Fence-Crete are available in bulk supply or in bags under the retail name of COPPERFIELDS at many outlets throughout the North Island.
